Rochai Enter the Cave

A New Assault
The danger approaches
A bitten young man is brought to Suohl for treatment. As Van recognizes the threat, the Rochai enter the cave from a direction that seems strategically chosen.
Van holds the passage
He warns the residents, directs them to a defensible chamber, and runs toward the animals. His altered senses help him meet the danger, but the attack’s purpose remains unclear.
Nakka Takes Yuna

A Separate Threat
Missing from safety
After Van drives back the pack, Yuna is absent from the gathered survivors. Nakka is missing too, and fresh footprints show that he carried her out into the snow.
A race against darkness
Van follows without waiting to recover, even though his head injury and the storm weaken him. The danger is no longer only the disease or the beasts; someone has deliberately separated him from Yuna.
The Burning Arrow

A Trail Lit in Fire
Help from Sae
A flaming arrow strikes a tree and illuminates Nakka’s footprints. Sae appears and joins Van in the pursuit, turning her earlier role as tracker toward rescue.
Van collapses
The path grows harder to read in the falling snow, and Van’s injury overwhelms him. He loses consciousness before he can learn where Yuna has been taken.
